Welcome to Faithfully Marked!
My colorful, inspiring, corner or the universe.
My paintings begin with living plants and flowers, studied directly, brush or pencil in hand, in real time.
I want my artwork to create pause, a moment where the eye catches on color that feels both right and impossible — and in that pause, joy.
For me, the beauty in a single flower or feather is evidence of something larger. I see the flora and fauna I paint as reflections of God’s own creativity and care, and I want each piece to carry that good news outward, quietly, through color, rather than words.
I work with a range of mediums, colored pencil, watercolor, Caran d’Ache crayon, ink pen — often within the same piece. The variety keeps the process alive and responsive, much like the living subjects themselves.
Ultimately, this body of work is an invitation: to slow down, to look closely at something small and growing, and to find in that looking a bit of unexpected joy!
I am a Believer, Wife, Mama of 3, artist, daughter of an artist (Diana Sanford), and elementary art teacher by day. I love to paint early in the morning when the house is quiet.
